Helix fully supports the broad functionality of the Macintosh environment. The Macintosh design allows for more than one way to do many things. As your familiarity with these alternate methods grows, you will be able to avoid some steps and speed up the overall process.
You can select a word in a Rectangle by double-clicking on it.
You can select all of the text in a Rectangle by clicking in the Rectangle and then choosing Select All from the Edit menu.
In the Relation window, you can point to the side of a group of icons, press the mouse button, drag the mouse to draw a “selection rectangle” that disappears when the button is released. All icons falling within this rectangle will become selected, and then may simultaneously be moved, opened, or duplicated.
Many commands on the View and Edit menus can be activated by holding down the Command key and then pressing a letter key. The commands possessing this feature show the Command key symbol and letter to the right of the command name on the menu.
Here are some keyboard shortcuts for "View by" Mode:
Left arrow — Previous character when editing name/comment
Right arrow — Next character when editing name/comment
Option-up arrow — Top line
Option-down arrow — Bottom line
Option-left arrow. Tab, or Option-right arrow
— Switches to other field (name or comment.
If switching to comment, forces Edit mode
Clear — If in editing mode, deletes current field
Backspace — If in Fast Find mode, performs an "Undo";
In Edit mode, deletes one character
Holding Down the Option key while selecting the name of a form from a menu will open the Open Query attached to the form instead of the form.
Holding down the Option key while the Enter key or Enter command is used will perform a "Static Enter." This will keep the image of a newly entered or modified record on the screen. It is often used when fields calculated on Enter (such as a Max+1) need to be seen.
